Cecellia-Wendy Ann Lee
Cecellia-Wendy Ann Lee (a.k.a. Wendy) - soprano - was smitten by the performance bug at the age of two when she saw violinist Isaac Stern on a PBS broadcast. She then proceeded to nag her mother for the next six years for a chance to play the violin. However, Wendy has sung for as long as she can remember. As a child, she would watch and then act out any musical/operetta that she saw on television, as well as pretend to play a violin. "...I would drive my poor mother nuts constantly doing this 'musical thing'!".
Wendy specializes in operatic roles such as her appearances in 'Showboat' with the Tacoma and Everett opera companies. She has also appeared in performances at: 'The Snoqualamie Falls Forest Theatre', Civic Light Opera, Emerald City Players, St. Matthew Players, and in numerous 'Seattle Gilbert & Sullivan Society' productions. Wendy has been a featured soloist/performer with the Rainier Symphony Orchestra, in various presentations at schools, and concert programs including her own debut solo voice recital in August of 1996. She has also been a storyteller and narrator with the Renton Youth Symphony Orchestra's presentation of Prokofiev's 'Peter & the Wolf', Virgil Thomson's 'The Plough That Broke The Plains'. She has also worked with the RYSO as a vocal soloist, performing a specially written soprano obbligato part for the orchestra work 'Aria' by Vadim Bibergan.
In addition to singing and narrating, Wendy is an accomplished violinist/violist who has played throughout her public school career. She has attended the Cornish School of the Performing Arts, Seattle Central Community College, North Seattle Community College, and was a violin performance major at the University of Washington. She has conducted/coached the Olympic Symphonette/Youth Symphony, and has been coach/conductor's assistant for the Renton Youth Symphony. Wendy has performed with several ensembles/orchestras including Ripieno Orchestra for the Seattle Opera production of Benjamin Britten's 'Noyeís Fludde', various UW performance groups and productions, Seattle Concert Orchestra, Seattle Christian Symphony Orchestra, Rainier Symphony Orchestra, and The Northwest Mahler Festival Chorus and Concert Orchestra. She has played in the pit orchestras for numerous greater Seattle area theatre/opera companies and churches - many times serving as concertmaster or principal player. In addition, Wendy appeared as the 'Fiddler' in the critically acclaimed and award winning Renton Parks Department production of 'The Fiddler on the Roof'.
Currently, Wendy plays first violin in the Samammish Symphony Orchestra, and has just begun her third season as principal second violinist for the Seattle Philharmonic Orchestra. She is a local violin, viola, and voice instructor, an orchestra consultant/specialist for the Auburn School District, and a cantor/soloist at Holy Rosary Church in West Seattle.
